What the inspectors said
Strengths the inspectors named:
- Very good achievement and progress in mathematics and science in the high school, with strong senior English - the school’s consistently recognised academic strength.
- Extensive and global university placement, with graduates progressing to institutions across the UK, US, Europe, Canada, Asia and the Middle East - the outcome this school is built around.
- One of Dubai’s longest-established private schools, operating in Al Sufouh since the early 1990s on a 62,298 square metre campus with a semi-Olympic pool, dedicated KG building, four computer labs and three science labs.
- Mid-range fees of roughly AED 21,900-41,900 - below the Dubai citywide average - with IGCSE, AS, A Level and AP examinations all available.
What they asked the school to improve:
- Acceptable overall in 2023-24, a rating held across more than a decade of inspections, and inspectors confirmed that progress against previous recommendations had been limited.
- Achievement across Kindergarten, Primary and Middle remains largely acceptable, and internal assessment outcomes do not always align with external benchmarks.
- Parental involvement is rated acceptable and identified by inspectors as inadequate; governance lacks diverse stakeholder representation; direct access to teaching staff is structurally limited and the self-evaluation process lacks accuracy.
- A Parental Council formed in 2023 was still not active and operational at inspection - ask whether it now is.
Inclusion (students of determination): 83 students of determination enrolled at the most recent inspection, in a school of close to 3,918 - and the structural finding matters more than the number. Inspectors report that the school’s resistance to curriculum flexibility, inclusion adaptation and more student-centred learning continues to limit progress in inspection outcomes, and they recommend appointing qualified teachers in Inclusion, alongside Islamic Education, Arabic and English. The SABIS system is tightly structured by design; that is its strength for students who thrive on it, and its constraint for a child who needs the curriculum bent around them. The school is non-selective but academically demanding once a student is enrolled, and parental involvement is rated Acceptable and described by inspectors as inadequate.
