What the inspectors said
Strengths the inspectors named:
- Good in 2023-24, sustaining the rating first reached in 2018 after an Acceptable debut - with the Diploma Programme the standout improvement: curriculum pathways strengthened and academic outcomes rising with them.
- Health, safety and child protection rated Outstanding across all four phases - KG, PYP, MYP and DP alike.
- Teaching and assessment rated Very Good in KG and in the Diploma Programme, with students’ attitudes, behaviour and work ethic named as strengths alongside an excellent understanding of Islamic values and Emirati culture.
- Genuinely distinctive senior provision: a Centre of Excellence in Aviation, Aeronautics and Space, a first-in-the-UAE partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University giving Career-related Programme students the equivalent of a year of US university credits, and a bilingual diploma route.
What they asked the school to improve:
- Attainment in KG and Primary Years science, and progress in Primary Years English, both declined this cycle - the clearest weak spot in an otherwise steady report.
- Teaching and assessment sit at Good rather than Very Good through the Primary and Middle Years - the middle of the school is where to ask questions.
- Inspectors were explicit about inclusion: provision has strengthened through leadership, staffing and training, but is ‘effective but not fully consistent’, with a formal development point to make it consistently high quality.
Inclusion (students of determination): Good - inclusion is given high priority by all leaders and provision has strengthened through stronger leadership, increased staffing and professional training, but inspectors judged it ‘effective but not fully consistent’ and issued a formal development point: ensure provision for students of determination is of consistently high quality. See the special educational needs guide for the questions to ask on a visit.
Inspector summaries are being added school by school as each report is read - 221 of 230 so far, dated per cycle, never invented. A school without a summary yet is unread, not unjudged.

What we don't know about this school
Every other page on this site tells you what we have verified. This one tells you what we have not, because a register you cannot calibrate is worth less than one you can. We do not currently hold:
- its fees - this school has not published them
- whether it is co-educational, boys or girls
- how many children are on roll
- its facilities - sports, arts, science, library
- published exam results or university destinations
- what registration, transport, uniform and meals add to the fee
- the year it opened - the figure we held was wrong on every school we checked
None of it is guessed or filled in from a similar school. Ask for any of it using the form below and it moves up the queue - requests are how we decide what to collect next.
Ask this school a question - we'll do the asking
Tell us the year group, and we will ask GEMS International School Al Khail what it costs, whether there is a place, and what the next step is. Then we send you what they say. Every answer we get is also checked into this school's record, so the next parent finds it already here.
Your details stay with us. We contact the school ourselves, and we do not pass your name or address to them, or to any agent, unless you ask us to. No school pays to appear in this guide, and none can pay to change what it says.
